About the role We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Group Financial Accountant to join our Finance team on a 3 month contract. Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, this role plays a key part in delivering accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting across the business during a critical period. You will support month-end close, management reporting, audit and tax requirements, while partnering with stakeholders to provide meaningful financial insights that support operational and strategic decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to make an immediate impact within a large, fast-paced retail organisation. What will you do? Take ownership of key components of the month-end close, including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, gift cards, transaction fees and credit cards. Prepare management reports and deliver insightful analysis on performance against budget and prior periods. Identify trends, risks and opportunities, providing recommendations to improve financial and operational outcomes. Assist with preparation of consolidated financial statements and support the year-end audit process. Prepare and lodge Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns and contribute to corporate income tax reporting as required. Partner with stakeholders across the business to support commercial decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives. Assist with project work, landlord and government reporting, and other ad hoc finance tasks. Provide cover and support to the wider finance team during peak periods. What skills and experience do you need? CA or CPA qualification. Minimum 4 years’ accounting experience within a large organisation, ideally in a retail or multi-site environment. Experience working with large ERP systems (SAP highly regarded). Strong Excel and analytical skills with a detail-focused mindset. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines. Strong organisational and time-management capabilities.
